Committee Overviews
Conference
– The Conference Committee participates in strategic planning, event support and sponsor outreach for the Virginia Capital Conference held annually in late September or early October. The Committee primarily focuses on confirming sponsors and recruiting private equity and investment bank exhibitors, and individual attendees, as well as setting the conference agenda. Committee members should expect to attend one to three 1-hour, in-person meetings as well as regular conference calls from March through September. Committee members are highly encouraged to attend the annual conference.
Investment
– The Investment Committee meets quarterly with ACG Richmond’s financial advisor to review returns and current investment strategy as well as discuss strategic planning for future investments. Committee members should expect to participate in four 30-minute conference calls annually.
Membership
– The Membership Committee is responsible for the strategic targeting and recruiting of new members; review and approval of new member applications; and member retention through mentorship. Committee members should expect to attend four to six 1-hour meetings annually.
Programs –
The Programs Committee is responsible for recruiting speakers for the breakfast meeting series. Speaker selection criteria include but are not limited to the following: area of expertise; relevance to the general ACG membership; unique business situations; prominence in the Richmond community; and strategic fit given the current ACG Richmond membership. This Committee will also brainstorm other events, usually no more than 2 per program year, including roundtables, networking socials and events targeting specific audiences. Committee members should expect to attend two in-person brainstorming sessions and 1 - 3 conference calls per program year with the bulk of the work in March through June. Committee members are highly encouraged to attend the events.
Scholarship
– The Scholarship Committee is responsible for promoting the annual ACG Scholarship to local public and private schools, encouraging ACG Membership and business contacts to share the scholarship opportunity with eligible students, reviewing the scholarship applications and selecting scholarship recipients. Committee members should expect to attend four 1-hour, in-person meetings per year. Occasionally, the committee will meet via conference call in addition to the in-person meetings. Committee members are highly encouraged to attend the Scholarship Breakfast held annually during the first week of May.
Young Professional Events
– This committee was formed in Fall 2024 to plan 1 - 2 events/program year specifically targeting current and prospective Young Professional members (35 and under). The Committee operates with oversight and marketing support from the Executive Director.
