Completion of this application does not guarantee a position with the UM Student Workforce. Students must complete an application for each academic year and your application will be kept on file for the year completed. Federal Work-Study eligibility will be recalculated each year based on the most recent FAFSA results.
You are eligible to be considered if you:
• Complete the FAFSA and are eligible for Federal Work-Study
• Complete this application
• Enroll in 12 or more credit hours per semester
• Maintain a 2.0 GPA
• Are a traditional undergraduate student
If hired, you will also be required to:
• Attend Mandatory Student Worker Orientation on campus
• Serve as an UM Student Assistant for on-campus events such as Preview Day, UM Day, etc.
• Complete your Career Portfolio and Handshake profile
• Meet with the Director of Career Services at least once during the year to ensure ongoing career and professional development
• Attend Career Workshops and Career Events during the school year
Many factors go into the selection of UM Student Workers. Among these are the student’s unmet financial aid need (as determined by the Financial Aid office), the number of student worker positions available, and the date that the student completed the Student Workforce Application. Each student hired for on-campus employment is required to attend a paid Student Worker Orientation Workshop. Students are paid minimum wage on a bi-weekly basis. All student workers are evaluated once peer year by their Supervisor and this evaluation is a factor in continued participation in the UM Student Workforce.
