Background Check Acknowledgment Form
A Criminal Background Check (CBC) is required for Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) students pursuing an associate degree, technical diploma, or certification offered in the Healthcare Pathway. Effective August 12, 2019, MATC will no longer require a criminal background check prior to admission to the College but will require the completion of a criminal background check during the petitioning process for the Healthcare Pathway (i.e., petitioning is the application process used to be admitted into the core-technical classes in the Healthcare Pathway).
Once you begin the petitioning process for any degree, technical diploma, or certification offered through the Healthcare Pathway, you must complete a criminal background check. MATC will not deny admission to any Healthcare Pathway program based on the criminal background check result. However, agencies who serve as clinical or field placement sites for MATC Healthcare Pathway courses reserve the right to deny placement based on criminal background check results. Denial of placement is at the sole discretion of the clinical or field placement agency or site, and MATC does not retain authority or control over the denial of clinical or field placement based on criminal background checks. Should you be denied clinical or field placements by an approved clinical or field placement site, you may be unable to complete all course requirements necessary for graduation, licensure, and/or employment.
