Please Note:
Rescue dogs are typically adult dogs who have been surrendered by their previous owners. Sometimes these dogs can be abandoned and in council pound facilities or at a vets and will be taken in to foster or kennels to assess and hopefully to place them in new homes. There are many reasons why a dog will go into rescue – the death of an owner, change in housing, change in circumstances. Rescue dogs will have been surrendered to the Deerhound Club and will be adopted from the Deerhound Club.
There will be a minimum fee of £150.00 to help support the Deerhound Club Rescue.
Rehome dogs are also generally adult dogs, but differ from Rescue Dogs in the fact that they have been bred and/or owned by the current owner. They may be show dogs or breeding dogs who are now looking for a comfortable couch to retire to, or they may have been sold as puppies, and then returned to their breeders by their owners as adults. They may be dogs that need a new home due to changed circumstances of the current owner. Dogs that are being rehomed will be rehomed by the owner/breeder directly and the Deerhound Club will be acting in an introductory capacity only.
A donation to the Club will be given by the owner/breeder of any successful rehome.
