Considers the client's emotional interest as well as the pet's comfort when making a decision

SURGICAL SKILLS

Has a good understanding of anesthesia, drugs and equipment

Is considerate of patients' pain and discomfort

Dresses appropriately for surgery & uses proper aseptic technique

Completes surgery in a reasonable amount of time

Does not waste surgical or anesthesia supplies

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy when performing non-routine surgeries

Charges appropriately for surgery time

RECORD KEEPING

SOAPs recorded accurately and in a timely manner

Communicates with the other doctors through notations in charts

Updates anesthesia/surgery and controlled -substance logs in a timely fashion

Fills in lab results accurately in patients record, and records 'results conversation' with owners

Updates treatment records on a timely basis

EXAMINATIONS

Is prompt for exam visits

Spends sufficient time with each client and patient

Ensures that each visit is productive in terms of time and income

Give a technically thorough physical exam to every patient and charges accordingly

Obtains owners' permission and gives an estimate before initiating

Thoroughly presents treatment options and allows clients to make decisions concerning recommended services

Sees emergencies and charges appropriately for them

Remains accessible when on lunch hour

Demonstrates a caring and gentle approach

MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING

Has a reasonable understanding of overhead costs, and considers ways to increase income

Sends employees who have concerns or criticisms to the appropriate manager rather than getting personally involved

Judiciously uses drugs and supplies, and is aware of costs

Makes an effort to learn more about the business aspects of the practice

Supports businesses monthly promotions and helps promote services/products being offered

Controls accounts receivable and understands that all services have an attached fee and must be charged for

Is consciously aware of the facility's exterior and interior appearance and uses caution to save the hospital repair costs

Takes daily note of exterior grounds and pitches in to clean up when necessary

Participates in marketing events (at least one a year)

Shows interest and asks questions concerning management and marketing of services
