Dear Committee member, As a New Mexico resident I urge you to Oppose House Bill 205 which aims to prohibit the use of flavored electronic cigarettes in the state of New Mexico. As an adult who uses these products, you must take into account that this will limit my ability to choose the flavor of my choice when it comes to my favorite vape products. Removing flavors leaves me no choice but to go back to smoking traditional cigarettes which kills around 480,000 people a year in the United States alone. Not all vapers will resort back to smoking either. Some will be looking for ways to make their own products or buy it from black market dealers which has the potential to cause a public health crisis in our state. So please, I urge you to OPPOSE HB-205 and keep flavors in New Mexico as prohibition has historically never worked. With 120,000 other adult vapers like myself in New Mexico, this ban will only effect previous smokers who are working hard to kick the habit. Sincerely yours, Concerned Vaper and Voter
