Purpose: The goal of the Artist in Residence program is to foster engagement between visitors/patrons of the Beaufort County Library and the various disciplines of our artistic community. The resident artist will be engaged in sharing and teaching their craft while using a designated space in the library.
The Artist in Residence program gives artists, performers, authors and makers of all types and disciplines the ability to work freely in their own studio space, while sharing their work and artistic process with the community and provide learning opportunities and programs for library customers. To be considered for this program, each artist will complete the Artist in Residence application and will describe how they will help the Beaufort County Library connect with our customers and local artists for opportunities and experiences that advance art in the community. The application should include specific ideas for special programming, projects, artists talks or workshops.
Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2025 and reviewed by a designated committee to establish a residency for Fall 2025 (September/October). The selection committee will seek visual, performance or media artist(s) who have a direct connection to the local arts community, with a desire to help the Beaufort County Library improve the livelihood of the local creative community.
