FIGHT FOR $45

Rent is too high, pay is too low!

CREW demands a real raise

Dear Concordia Administration,

If you want to deliver high-quality education and research, boost enrolment, and help students graduate at higher rates, you need to pay your student workers a competitive and liveable wage: $45 an hour.

Concordia’s Teaching Assistants and Research Assistants (TAs and RAs) play a crucial role in the functioning of the university and the education of thousands of students—yet our wages lag far behind competitive rates at other universities.

Our labour is essential. Concordia works because we do. So why aren’t we receiving the pay we deserve? Why are we being paid so much less than other TAs?

Since 2020, the cost of rent and other basic expenses in Montreal has skyrocketed with nearly 20% inflation. Meanwhile, TA and RA wages have increased a measly 5% in the same period. Concordia has major catching up to do to provide us a real raise—one that also makes up for years of inflation while being overworked and underpaid.

We, the undersigned, demand a competitive and livable wage for student workers. We are committed to the Fight for $45/h and will do whatever it takes to win!
