The Endangered Species Act, passed decades ago, aims to protect our nation's endangered and threatened species. Recently, advocacy by environmental groups, enabled by this legislation, has driven changes to the environmental policy that will impact Illinois farmers' access to key crop protection tools. The Herbicide Strategy, finalized in August 2024, and the recent proposed decision by the US Fish and Wildlife Service to list the Monarch butterfly as a protected species are two examples changes that will affect Illinois growers.
Please join Illinois Soybean, Illinois Corn, and Illinois Farm Bureau for a grower-focused discussion designed to prepare Illinois farmers for these changes. Subject matter experts from all three organizations, along with presenters from the University of Illinois and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, will guide growers through these changes and discuss their potential impact on farms.
