"Municipal Natural Gas Ratemaking 101"

A successful municipal natural gas enterprise will set adequate customer rates to recover all upstream gas costs, system distribution costs (O&M, gas line replacement), marketing and line expansion costs, and earn a rate of return on the gas system operation (gas system transfers to general government). This session will explore the various elements and current philosophies in setting reasonable municipal gas rates. Is the fixed monthly customer charge set at a level to recover a significant portion of the gas system fixed costs?  Are costs allocated fairly between residential customers and industrial customers? How often should the non-gas portion of rates be adjusted? What is an appropriate rate of return for the gas system?  We will dive into these issues and much more!

Afternoon Activities - Thursday, May 8, 2025

- Fishing Tournament
Spend the afternoon on the waters of St. Simons fishing for red drum, shark, and whiting. This is a 4 hour, guided excursion. (Space is limited).

- Golf Tournament
Join our annual golf tournament at the Hampton Club, the King & Prince's Championship golf course. 

- Historic Island Tour 
Join the local historian on a 90 minute guided tour of St. Simons Island to hear about the history and folklore of the islands with a few stops along the way.  (This activity has a maximum limit)
