Leitrim Sports Partnership Club Development Grants 2025 Guidelines

Purpose of Scheme
One of the aims of Leitrim Sports Partnership is to increase participation in sport and physical activity among all persons in County Leitrim. Leitrim Sports Partnership is looking to support initiatives by sports and recreation organisations in Leitrim for education/training and participation initiatives. The total budget available across all sports and recreation organisations is likely to be €10,000 so allocations will be made based on the quality of submissions received.    

Who is eligible?
To be eligible organisations/clubs must:

-  Operate as a “Not for Profit” club or organisation that is open to public membership.

-  Have as one of their main objectives, the promotion of sport or physically active recreation or otherwise.

- Have policies and practises that encourage participation regardless of gender, age, race or ability.

-  Be affiliated to a National Governing Body that is recognised by the Sports Ireland or equivalent. 

-  Where there is an underage structure, that at least one officer has completed Code of Ethics training by drawdown of grant.

Who is ineligible to apply?
Individuals and the following organisations are not eligible to apply:

-  Individuals, Schools, Capital Projects.

-  Older / Active Age Community Groups & Agencies (Go For Life Programme).

-  Projects that are fundable from another source.

-  Commercial Organisations, for profit groups.

-  County/Regional/National Organisations or Statutory Agencies.

What can be applied for? (Please take the following guidelines into consideration when completing your application form)  
-  Programmes to increase membership and participation e.g. programmes to enhance club/school links, “Come and Try” initiatives, programmes to highlight sporting disability in Leitrim, establishing a new competition.

-  Programmes to introduce new activities or to engage new participants.

-  Applications are particularly welcome from minority sports and projects targeting groups who have low levels of participation and where opportunities do not already exist, e.g. women/girls, people with disabilities, unemployed, older people, disadvantaged communities.

-  Programmes which aim to improve the standard of participation in and technical knowledge of the activity concerned (e.g. coach education, committee and/or volunteer education, administration and management courses etc – presenter’s fees for accredited courses and course fees for accredited courses by a recognised body may be funded).

-  Coaching Equipment Grant for new equipment for clubs established in the last 3 years or if equipment is required for specific participation initiatives or new initiatives to attract or recruit new members to the club. (*Max €500) E.g. Bibs, cones and balls etc.  

What cannot be applied for?      
-  Ongoing running costs of clubs – such as hall hire, prizes, registration/affiliation fees, transport, insurance, clothing, general administration costs, entertainment.

-  Payment of debt and loans.

-  Leitrim Sports Partnership courses – these are already subsidised.

-  Programmes that are not in line with the goal of increasing participation in sport and physical activity.

-  Courses outside of Ireland, uncertifiable courses.

- Seasonal initiatives where a fee applies to participants.

Terms and Conditions
-  A copy of the club / organisations Constitution or Club Rules to be submitted where relevant.

-  Grants will not be paid retrospectively – i.e. for programmes that have commenced at time of application.

-  Brief details of any grants received within the last 2 years are to be provided.

-  Successful applicants must recognise the support of Leitrim Sports Partnership in publicity surrounding their project.

-  Successful applicants will be required to submit a detailed note on the activity funded alongside receipts for the funding. They must also give details of project related activities so that Leitrim Sports Partnership may attend from time to time.

-  Successful applicants must commit to having all club/organisation coaches complete a safeguarding 1 workshop before they are allowed to work with children.

Grants may only be applied for ONCE in any financial year. Drawdown must take place before the Friday 13th September 2025.  Grants not drawn down by 13th September will be allocated to a group on the reserve list created at the time of reviewing applications.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 4pm on Monday 14th April 2025. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
